Assistant to Gordon Wise</

I joined Curtis Brown in 2022 and am an Associate Agent working alongside Gordon Wise. You can see my list of clients below.

In non-fiction, I am looking for History and Big Ideas, Philosophy and Self-Help, Nature and Environmental Writing, and Sport. I am drawn to nature writing with a strong voice and a compelling message such as the writing of James Rebanks, Chloe Dalton, and Merlon Sheldrake. In History and Ideas, I am interested in fresh perspectives on classic topics, as well as absorbing narratives that embed the reader in another time and place; Tom Holland’s Dominion, Lea Ypi's Free, David Grann's The Wager, and Jonathan Freedland's The Escape Artist are both exceptional examples of this. Finally, I want to see fascinating stories from the world of sport, whether that be in the journalistic style of Football Against the Enemy and Moneyball, or as an autobiography with substance.

I am also looking for fiction that is expansive, stylistic, and packed with well-drawn and complex characters. I tend to reach for books which confront big themes through a riveting storytelling; recently I have enjoyed J L Carr's A Month in the Country, Karl Ove Knausgaard's The Morning Star, Jonathan Franzen’s Crossroads and Ian McEwan’s Lessons. I am also interested in beautifully written and enthralling historical fiction, such as Sarah Perry's The Essex Serpent and of course, Hilary Mantel's Wolf Hall.

Before joining Curtis Brown, I worked for Albatross Agency in Stockholm and as a scout at Eccles Fisher Associates. Prior to publishing, I taught English Literature at secondary schools in London. Please see our office Instagram for latest updates of what we are up to: https://www.instagram.com/gordonelliotbooks/?hl=en
